Quotes

“Contact with the quartet before the wedding was prompt and clear, and the price was very reasonable. The players were good-humoured and accommodating, taking the initiative to play for an extra 15 mins to ensure there was still 30 mins of music after the ceremony finished late. The quality of the playing was excellentTestimonial from a Cilent, Cressing Temple Barns July 2010

“Our daughter had set her heart on a string quartet to perform Pachelbel’s Canon for her wedding in church. The Salisbury String Quartet provided this and much more with a varied selection of music. The feedback from the guests as they sat waiting was excellent and we know our daughter and her new husband fully appreciated the enhancement to the ceremony. We would certainly book them again for any future event.” Patricia Gibson

“Dear Isobel, I want to drop you a line for the reason that we so enjoyed your playing at the Garden Club evening last Thursday. Thank you so much for presenting sucha lovely programme and I thought your presentation was perfect.” Jill Palmer

I booked Isobel to play the cello at my wedding in December 2009. She played before and at the civil ceremony.

Isobel is a very accomplished cellist and has a wide repertoire. She knew what she was doing and was entirely open to ideas with no fixed mindset of what was ‘the right thing’, yet gave me suggestions where I needed. She didn’t rush me over choices and was happy to play a piece again and again. She even suggested that I have a little practice with the ‘walk’ to ensure appropriate timing.

Isobel is extremely professional and from day one she inspired confidence. She always kept in communication before the day and returned my calls if I left a message. She paid attention to detail and asked about the dress code. She fitted in well with the hotel staff and guests. Her appearance is good and she was at the venue in plenty of time.

She is intelligent and can play to fill the ‘awkward spaces’ left at times, e.g while waiting for the bride and during the signing. She didn’t just play one piece and then sit in silence.

I was initially undecided about booking a cellist and am so pleased that I did. It totally raised the tone of the wedding and was utterly charming. My whole experience with Isobel was enjoyable and fun from being to ended.

I would not hesitate in recommending Isobel.” Maire Aoife Kilbride-Newman

“I wanted my twin boys christening to have something a bit special, and although at first I gulped a bit at the price, the talent and professionalism of musicians more than warranted it. Guests were delighted and are still raving about it now and the children really enjoyed their first experience of live classical music. Would definitely recommend!” Tanya James

”Many thanks ‘Salisbury Quartet’ for setting the scene so beautifully for my Charity Art exhibition, private view in August. It produced just the right note atmosphere on a sunny summers evening and contributed to its great success. In addition to the above, your wonderful music enhanced the ‘Piece of cake’ tea party for the Willow Foundation the following Sunday. People were so generous and enjoyed the occasion very much indeed, which ensured a good financial response for the Charity. Your music was spot on – popular and flexible and I would recommend the Quartet to anyone for any occasion, be it for a private party or public event. Well done Isobel, your fellow musicians and thank you.” Jackie Palmer

“Just a quick thank you for the wonderful performance that the quartet gave at our wedding recently. The ambience was truly set by the wonderful music and it helped to make that part of our day more perfect. Once again, many thanks” Nicola and Ian Gibson

Ceilidh and Barn Dance Band

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Our ceilidh band was formed in response to the need for Scots-away-from-home to have a decent party without having to return to the ‘homeland’. As the popularity of ceilidhs has increased, the group have played for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, Burns Night Celebrations and Charity Balls. The band comes complete with an excellent caller, who will liaise with you before the event, to plan dances at a suitable level for your guests. He will lead your guests – from beginners to seasoned dancers, through a wide variety of well known dances. The band is available as a three or four piece with caller; instruments include: the accordion, violin, guitar and bass.

We have used the band for a number of events, including a wedding which also had a DJ. All of the guests JUST wanted to dance to the band; in the end the DJ packed up early! This band is fantastic and if you want a great evening for your guests: book this band!

Thank you so much for sorting out the perfect group for our event. Please pass on our thanks to the band.”

“My thanks to the band, we had a wonderful time. They were great musicians, and called the dances well. Everyone who danced enjoyed themselves, and the children had a great time. Our best man said that after we’d left they were really accommodating and we’ve had a number of comments from guests saying how much they enjoyed the dancing.”

“Thank you very much, once again for your help with finding the band for our Burns night supper. The evening was a great success Margot and Declan Cunningham (Parents that won the prize) thoroughly enjoyed themselves with their guests. We were able to persuade four chaps from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment based in Canterbury to Join us, they wore their uniform and kilts they joined in with the dancing too. The band were fantastic they were very helpful, the tunes they played were very fitting for the occasion, the sound was  incredible, absolutely fabulous, Matthew was a star Caller.”
Please do thank them for coming to King’s at such short notice and I am confident that we will see them again in the not too distant future.”

“Thanks the band were superb!
To be honest a lot of us couldn’t keep up (unfit!) and we had to ask for break!
I had a stitch because I couldn’t stop dancing or laughing.
We were more than chuffed with the band – a real nice bunch too.
Thanks so much”

“We just wanted to say a big thank you to you and the rest of the band who
played at our wedding on the 18th July. You were fantastic, all the guests
said they enjoyed it immensely. Even the catering staff said they wanted to
join in! You helped keep the reception fun, just the way we wanted it and
have given us a lot of happy memories! I would have no hesitation in
recommending the ceilidh band to anyone wanting to liven up their
party!
